Police Sergeant Huseini Mohammed of the Aiyinase Marine Police Unit deployed to offer security at the [Kwame Nkrumah] Osagyefo Barge at Efassu in the Jomoro municipality of the Western Region has “shot himself to death”.
According to the Half Assini District Police Command, the late sergeant was found dead in a pool of blood in his room at the barge with his AK47 assault rifle beside him, and a [paraphrased] note on paper declaring that “he cannot take this disgrace”.
It is unclear what might have led Sergeant Mohammed to take his life, as the Half Assini District Police command says he was not part of two police officers who were arrested at the barge for stealing electrical gadgets they were to protect.
Speaking to ourstorisonline.com, the Half Assini District Police Commander DSP Dzenge explained that the “I cannot take this disgrace” note sergeant Mohammed left has left them confused because “we do not know this disgrace he is talking about. Even though he is a security officer at the barge, he was not part of the two police officers who have been interdicted after they were arrested for stealing equipment at the barge for sale. We are just at a loss as to which disgrace he is talking about”.
DSP Dzenge continued that “I personally saw him last Thursday when he came to me to assist him to the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Jomoro [Mr. Ernest Kwofie] to take their weekly rations for food. He didn’t sound suspicious of anything only to hear his death yesterday”.
Meanwhile, information gathered by ourstorisonline.com indicates that the two cases involving officers from the same Aiyinase Marine Police Unit have triggered a sad mood in the camp, leaving officers worried over what it is the matter with the Osagye Barge.
In the meantime, the Western Regional Criminal Investigations Department has taken over investigations working to ascertain the full facts.
Mr. Huseini Mohammed left behind a wife and two children.
