Power Distribution Services [PDS] together with the Volta River Authority [VRA] and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission [PURC], have agreed to publish a load management timetable for power distribution across the country. This decision, communicated on Thursday by these stakeholders after a meeting, is to inform Ghanaians of when they will have an intermittent power supply.
Power Supply in the last few months has been unstable in many parts of the country. The Minority in parliament have been asking the Energy Minister John Peter Amewu to publish a “Dumsor” timetable to enable Ghanaians to plan their use of power.
The Africa Centre for Energy Policy, ACEP had also indicated earlier that based on the facts available, the current power situation is symptomatic of what transpired before the country was plunged into the dreaded dumsor era under the Mahama government.
Responding to these calls for a timetable on power rationing, the VRA, PDS and PURC have agreed to publish load management on Friday, April 5 2019.
