President Akuffo Addo is expected in the coming weeks to cut the sod for the commencement of the reconstruction and asphalting of the Nkuroful through Teleku Bokazo and Asasetre road which leads to the birthplace of the first president of the republic, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This, according to the District Chief Executive for the Ellembelle District Francis Bonzoh is after all paper works and other processes have been completed with a new contractor.
The Nkuroful-Teleku Bokazo through Asasetre stretch of road has been in a deplorable state for years, even though it is the road that leads to the birthplace of Ghana’s first president Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Earlier, a contract was awarded for the reshaping of the road under the erstwhile Mahama’s administration, but soon after losing the 2016 elections, the contractor left the site. This left commuters to battle dust during dry seasons and mud waters during wet seasons.
But, speaking to several hundreds of congregants of the 2019 Easter Convention of the Esiama Church of Pentecost on Easter Sunday, Mr. Kwasi Bonzoh hinted that president Nana Addo will in the coming weeks cut the sod for the asphalting of the stretch.
He said “I know it is the desire of each of us here to see this road reconstructed. I want to tell you that just last week, we finished with all the documentation with a new contractor to have this road reconstructed. Since this road is dear to the heart of the president, he himself will in the coming weeks come here to cut the sod for its reconstruction. The stretch from Esiama to Nkuroful will be asphalted whilst from Teleku Bukazo to Asasetre will be bitumen surface”.
The leadership of the church of Pentecost at the convention who were excited about the news offered prayers to the president and his team “so they could advance in wisdom and strength” to continue the good works they have been doing for the country.
